Carnegie Mellon University (CMU)  is a private university located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. The university, which was founded in 1900, was once named the Carnegie Technical School which was founded by Andrew Carnegie.

The school later changed its name in 1912 to the Carnegie Institute of Technology which finally began to hold post-graduate education. Carnegie Mellon University itself was formed because of the merger of the Carnegie Institute of Technology with the Mellon Industrial Research Institute.

Carnegie Mellon itself has several faculties namely, the Faculty of Fine Arts, the Faculty of Humanities, the Faculty of Business, the Faculty of Science, the Faculty of Information Systems, the Faculty of Public Policy, and the Faculty of Computer Science.
